Fans can delight in the much anticipated production which is now underway of the second film in the series New Moon. Fans of the books will undoubtedly turn out in droves this November when the film opens in cinemas.
New Moon Plot
The second book in the twilight saga has a darker and more emotional story line. Bella Swan and Edward Cullen are barely together for more than a couple of chapters when the love struck Edward decides to save Bella from himself by going away with the rest of the Cullens' in tow. A devastated Bella is barely able to carry on as she believes her beloved Edward has fallen out of love with her. However, she finds solace and friendship in Jacob Black who made a brief appearance in both film and book version of twilight. A deep understanding and emotional relationship ensues.
Bella soon realises that she is able to "hear" Edward in her mind when she pursues dangerous activities. Thus begins her flirtation with motorbikes, cliff diving and dangerous hiking expeditions. It soon becomes clear that Jacob has his own secrets that he is keen for Bella to work out by herself. Jacob's deepening friendship with his Quileute friends scares Bella at first until she learns the truth about them, they are werewolves. Bella and Jacob's friendship only intensifies with this new knowledge and is enhanced by the findings that Victoria (James' mate from the first book and film) is back to kill Bella. Without her vampire coven to protect her, Bella is forced to turn to Jacob and his pack for protection.
When Bella decides to go cliff diving alone, Alice see's Bella jump from the cliff, but then everything goes black. Alice is unaware that this is actually due to the werewolves presence in Bella's situation. Rosalie is all to quick to inform Edward of Bella's supposed demise, sending him running to the Volturi to end his own life. Luckily Alice wants to see Bella's fate for herself so returns to Forks. As soon as she sees Bella is still alive, she and Bella head off to Italy to save Edward from both himself and the wrath of the Volturi.
This is Bella's first encounter with the Volturi, described throughout the saga as being like the vampire royal family. They are the largest coven of vampires with Aro, Caius and Marcus at the head. They take it upon themselves to punish an vampire who does not live by their rules. We later learn that they are collectors of vampires with special skills and they take a keen interest in Edwards ability to read minds and Alice's ability to see the future.
Alice and Bella are able to get to Edward in time and are eventually allowed to leave the Volturi, with the agreement that next time they all meet Bella will be immortal herself. On returning to Forks Edward and Bella realise that they are and always will be inseparable. Bella is sure that she wants to live with Edward and his extended family forever and so decides she is ready to become a vampire. A fact that Edward is not impressed by.
If you loved twilight the movie and have not yet been tempted by the amazing twilight saga consisting of New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. You are missing out on one of the best ever book series. You will not be disappointed with the other books and you take so much more of the story away with you from the books that they are possibly able to fit into the movies.
